Vision

A Network of Youth Missioners in Norfolk

We raise up missioners who make disciples and plant diverse, sustainable worshipping communities across Norfolk — connecting the discipleship of young people with the renewal of the Church.

What is a Missioner?

A missioner is someone who practices ecclesiological mission as a way of life — discipling others, planting communities, and multiplying kingdom presence wherever they go.

Disciple. Plant. Refresh.

Our Core Work

  • Disciple
We train bi-vocational youth missioners to become agile, resilient missionary disciples.

  • Plant
We release and accompany them into local partnerships or new ventures across Norfolk — equipping them to start disciple-making initiatives and sustainable worshipping communities.

  • Refresh
We function as a network of missioners, creating a culture of collaboration and encouragement that refreshes the wider Church.

Mission

A nomad is someone who lives by traveling from place to place.
The church is finding new territory for a new era - identifying emerging leaders and supporting them with the right balance of mobility and stability- releasing them into pragmatic missional opportunities with the right spiritual, relational and financial support.

We’re discovering new geography in our imaginations as we throw off what has hindered us before.

Hebrews 11

“..He went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.”

The Challenge

Much of the existing church falls short of being able to provide the basic and necessary relationships, environments, practices and stories for young people to encounter Jesus, explore faith and grow as disciples.

2 Chronicles 30

“..So runners went throughout all Israel and Judah with letters from the king and his princes, as the king had commanded, saying, “O people of Israel, return to the Lord..”

Our Goal

Our goal is to see the church grow deeper in ways that are sustainable, relational, and responsive to the Spirit’s leading. To see a movement of rooted, mobile youth leaders, supported by the wider church, helping the strategy of the Diocese to grow younger and more diverse.

Matthew 28

“Now the disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

“An unmissionary church and an unchurchly mission are both, from the standpoint of the gospel, absurdities.”

Becoming A Nomad

1. Your Mission Objectives

There is a national objective for the CofE to grow younger and more diverse. Nomad raises up leaders who make disciples and plant diverse, sustainable worshipping communities across Norfolk — connecting the discipleship of young people with the renewal of the Church.

We see this being outworked through 3 main areas of your ministry :

1. Apprentice :
Grow resilient, theologically grounded, and missionally agile through training.
Be rooted in community and a wider support network.
Experience deep spiritual growth, vocational clarity, and personal development.

2. What’s brewing in Norfolk :
Connect with the Diocese and Garden Church to explore and encourage new and existing missional ventures.

3. New Territory :
Explore and develop your own mission through streams that appear, particularly in unreached areas.
Multiply leaders by apprenticing others.

Rule of Life

Your Rule of Life provides the spiritual and practical scaffolding to sustain a passionate heart — helping us abide.
We want to connect in community, and be responsive in mission.

A framework for bi-vocational missioners :

  1. Apprentice: Coaching Clinic every Monday 1-3pm. Connect with other Nomads, learn and discern.

  2. Disciple and Enable: Meet with someone you're apprenticing and go and enable existing missional ventures and collaborations.

  3. Go and pray : Listen to the leadership of the Spirit to find new places of mission and new people of peace as you explore your calling and gifting.

  4. RecMap: RecMap with a mentor once a month

  5. Mission Report : Share a summary of what you’re learning and discerning once every 2 months

  6. Network Night: Gathering with all Nomad missioners (worship, stories, prayer) once a Q.
